FixRed is a small Mac utility made by Kareem Elmadi. The short version: FixRed has no analytics, no tracking, no accounts, and no server of ours that ever sees your data. This page lists everything that exists, exhaustively.
What FixRed does on your Mac
FixRed uses macOS's Accessibility API to count an app's open windows so it can quit the app when the last one closes. Window information is read in memory and never written anywhere except a local log on your own Mac (~/Library/Logs/FixRed/terminations.log) that records what FixRed quit and why. That log never leaves your machine.
FixRed does not read window contents, keystrokes, or anything you type. It counts windows.
Network connections FixRed makes
- License activation (only if you buy): when you enter a license key, FixRed sends the key to Lemon Squeezy's license API to activate it for your Mac. No personal data is sent โ the key and a device label, nothing else.
- Update checks: FixRed checks
fixred.app/appcast.xmlfor new versions using the standard Sparkle framework. This is an ordinary HTTPS request; we run no analytics on it.
That is the complete list. FixRed makes no other network connections.
When you buy FixRed
Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy (a Stripe company), who acts as the merchant of record. They collect your email address and payment details to process the order, handle sales tax, and email you your license key. We see your email address and order details in the store dashboard; we never see your payment card. Lemon Squeezy's own privacy policy governs their processing.
Support email
If you email [email protected], we get your email address and whatever you write. It's used to answer you and for nothing else.
What we don't do
- No analytics or telemetry of any kind, in the app or on this site.
- No advertising, no data sales, no third-party trackers.
- No accounts โ a license key is all there is.
